ENACT Technical Meeting in Caparica Strengthens Alignment Toward Upcoming Milestones

Nov 25, 2025

The ENACT consortium convened for a highly productive two-day technical meeting in Caparica, Portugal, on May 22–23, 2024, bringing together partners from across Europe to align on project requirements, specifications, and upcoming milestones.

Hosted by CERTH and Information Catalyst, the meeting opened with a comprehensive project management and technical status briefing, outlining deliverables, upcoming deadlines, and the objectives for the current project phase. A central discussion focused on defining a shared vision for ENACT and reinforcing how each component contributes to the development of the Cognitive Computing Continuum (CCC) ecosystem.

The first day featured an in-depth review of requirements and specifications led by ICCS and FDI, covering all technical components and use cases. These sessions provided a structured space for partners to validate the clarity, completeness, and interoperability of the technical framework—an essential step before moving into large-scale integration activities. The day concluded with a session on impact planning, led by Innovalia Association, focusing on communication, dissemination, and exploitation strategies to enhance ENACT’s visibility and long-term sustainability.

On the second day, technical leaders from Polytechnic University of Valencia, CERTH, and Siemens presented the current progress and next steps across Work Packages 4, 5, and 6, addressing developments in architecture, orchestration, and intelligent decision-support systems. Parallel sessions facilitated deep technical collaboration on specific components such as the data pipeline, graph modeler, risk modeling, and GNN-based AI decision support.

The meeting closed with a collective reflection on technical achievements and an action plan for the upcoming months, ensuring a cohesive path toward the next project milestones.

Beyond the formal sessions, the Caparica meeting also reinforced team cohesion and cross-partner collaboration, demonstrating the consortium’s commitment to advancing innovation in the Cognitive Computing Continuum.

Through this alignment effort, ENACT continues to pave the way toward building interoperable, intelligent, and resource-efficient systems that bridge the gap between cloud and edge computing—strengthening Europe’s leadership in next-generation distributed intelligence.
