ENACT Software Development Kit Released on Eclipse Marketplace

May 28, 2026

ENACT is pleased to announce the release of the ENACT Software Development Kit (SDK) on the Eclipse Marketplace, marking an important milestone in the project’s open-source and developer-oriented journey.

The ENACT SDK is now available as an Eclipse plug-in, bringing selected ENACT capabilities directly into the Eclipse IDE. Through this release, developers can access a unified environment designed to support application packaging, local AI assistance, and integration with ENACT services, helping make the project’s technological outcomes more accessible and easier to explore within a familiar development workspace. The SDK provides a single tabbed control panel inside Eclipse for application packaging, local AI assistance and integration with ENACT services.

This release represents a concrete step towards the broader adoption of ENACT’s results by the open-source and developer communities. As a Horizon Europe project focused on the Cognitive Computing Continuum, ENACT places strong emphasis on openness, interoperability and reusable technological assets. Making the SDK available through the Eclipse Marketplace contributes directly to this vision by offering a more convenient entry point for developers, researchers and technology adopters interested in experimenting with ENACT tools and services.

One of the key features of the SDK is its support for application packaging. The Eclipse Marketplace description highlights a guided wizard for generating Helm charts and Kubernetes manifests for application deployments, backed by the ENACT APM module. This functionality is particularly relevant in the context of cloud-edge environments, where applications need to be packaged, deployed and managed across distributed infrastructures in a consistent and reproducible way.

The SDK also introduces local AI assistance within the development environment. Through local LLM integration powered by Ollama, developers can interact with an AI assistant directly inside the IDE, while keeping the process offline. This aligns with ENACT’s wider ambition to support more intelligent, flexible and developer-friendly tools for next-generation distributed applications. The Marketplace listing also notes that Ollama is optional and only required for the AI Assistant feature.

Beyond its individual features, the release of the SDK on Eclipse Marketplace is significant because it strengthens ENACT’s connection with the Eclipse ecosystem. Eclipse provides a highly relevant environment for open-source software development, community engagement and technology dissemination. By publishing the SDK as an Eclipse plug-in, ENACT makes it easier for developers to discover, install and test project results, while also reinforcing the role of open-source delivery as a pathway for research impact.

This milestone is closely aligned with ENACT’s mission to develop breakthrough techniques and disruptive technology solutions for efficient and intelligent content and data processing across the edge-cloud continuum. With this release, ENACT continues to move from research and development towards practical, reusable and community-accessible outcomes. The availability of the SDK on Eclipse Marketplace provides a new opportunity for developers and stakeholders to engage with ENACT technologies and contributes to the project’s broader objective of supporting innovation across the Cognitive Computing Continuum.
