From April 21st to 23rd, ENACT was pleased to take part in Open Community Experience 2026 (OCX 2026), the Eclipse Foundation’s flagship developer conference, held in Brussels, Belgium. The project participated in the Open Community for Research (OCR), a co-located event designed to bring together research projects, open-source communities, industry stakeholders, and innovators working at the intersection of software, data, AI, cloud, edge, and IoT technologies.
ENACT’s participation in OCR represented a valuable opportunity to present the project’s open-source vision and to engage with a wider community of developers, researchers, and technology adopters. As a Horizon Europe project focused on the Cognitive Computing Continuum, ENACT places strong emphasis on openness, interoperability, and reusable technological results, making OCR a highly relevant setting to share its progress and exchange views on how research outcomes can evolve into sustainable, community-driven assets.
Representing the project, ENACT coordinator Alexandros Nizamis presented the talk “ENACT Cognitive Computing Continuum: Open Source Approach”, introducing how ENACT is advancing an open-source vision for the Cognitive Computing Continuum and turning research results into concrete, reusable outcomes. The presentation highlighted key ENACT open-source results, the role of the Eclipse open-source repository in supporting project development and collaboration, and important lessons learned around code licensing, intellectual property restrictions, and open-source delivery in research projects.
Beyond the presentation, ENACT was also present at OCX 2026 with its own booth, creating an additional space for dialogue with participants interested in the project’s technological approach, use-case applications, and broader vision. These conversations helped increase the visibility of ENACT’s results and opened new opportunities to connect with stakeholders working on open technologies, distributed systems, and collaborative digital infrastructures.
The event also provided an important forum to reflect on the role of open source as a key enabler for research impact. For ENACT, open source is not only a dissemination pathway, but also a strategic mechanism to support sustainability, adoption, transparency, and future innovation. By making results more accessible and reusable, the project contributes to strengthening the European ecosystem around edge-cloud computing, distributed intelligence, and trustworthy digital infrastructures.
ENACT would like to thank the Eclipse Foundation and the OCX/OCR community for creating such a valuable space for exchange, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. A special thank you also goes to Alexandros Nizamis, Ioanna Kapetanidou, Usman Wajid and André Gomes for representing ENACT throughout the event and helping make this participation a positive and meaningful experience.
The project leaves OCX 2026 with new conversations, new connections, and renewed motivation to continue advancing its open-source journey within the Cognitive Computing Continuum landscape.
